DON’T LET SPORTS INJURIES TAKE YOU OUT OF THE GAME

Stress fractures

Sports are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, but they can also lead to injuries without proper precautions. They occur in both professional and recreational sports, and due to the demand on athletes these have increased because they are not informed or well advised.

Some injuries cannot be avoided, some are accidental and others are the direct result of bad practices. Depending on how they occur, sports injuries are divided into two types:

  • Acute sports injuries: they are so called because they are very common injuries, for example; ankle sprains or fractures in legs and hands. They are characterized because they occur suddenly.
  • Chronic sports injuries: These arise after the continuous practice of a sport over time. They are characterized by appearing periodically.

Some of the most common causes for which sports injuries can arise are:

  • Not to warm up previously to the realization of the exercise.
  • Not using appropriate equipment.
  • Inadequate training.
  • Overexertion.
  • Falls.
